2010 Bodegas Bilbainas "Viña Zaco" Rioja
This red shows focus and good density, with ripe fruit flavors of black cherry and plum accented with toast and coffee, all supported by well-integrated tannins. Leafy and minerally accents linger on the finish. Drink now through 2016.
Produced from a 100% Tempranillo vineyard outside Haro, which of course is the village where Lopez de Heredia's famed Viņa Tondonia lies, this is a bright, fresh and fruit forward take on Rioja. Red cherry fruit, gentle spice and loads of drinkability here, just the ticket for an under $10 bottle.
