2009 Kerrigan + Berry Cabernet Sauvignon Western Australia (Elsewhere $65)
...excellent colour, a vividly fragrant bouquet and intense medium-bodied palate bringing together the strength and power of Mount Barker and the somewhat fleshier black and redcurrant fruit flavours of Margaret River, the tannin and oak contributions precisely calibrated.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of black currant preserves, blackberry compote and stewed plums followed by hints of black pepper, cloves and spearmint. Medium-bodied with plenty of mouth-filling blackberry and mint flavors, it has a good backbone of grainy tannins and crisp acid to hold up the long finish. Drink it now to 2018+. (LPB)
Truly exceptional Cabernet at any price point. Highly aromatic, blackcurrant, blueberry, anise, cigar box and crushed mint. The palate echoes these characters with wonderfully fine, silky tannins, perfect weight and elegance. Amazing how this wine is so concentrated and flavorful and yet quite ethereal on the palate. Seriously impressive wine, made from the absolute best of the best parcels of old vine fruit from Mt. Barker and Margaret River. The wine is aged in top quality cooperage and held back before release. We have very limited quantities of this truly magnificent wine.
