Grand Champagne Tasting - Hollywood Dec. 7th, 2013 4:30-6:00 p.m.

SKU #1143996

This year's Grand Champagne tasting will include a number of wines never-before tasted at K&L with a few reference bottles as well. We'll start with the brand new release from Launois, their 2005 Special Club Blanc de Blancs, from the two oldest and best parcels on their estate. Then we'll taste the game changing 2006 Sapience from Benoit Marguet, a barrel fermented blend of some Champagne's best organic growers best old vine plots. We'll continue on with a comparison of the current release of Krug Grande Cuvee with an older batch of the same wine that was disgorged in 2007 and kept at the maison an extra 5 years on the cork. Finally we'll wrap up the tasting comparing magnums of 95/96 multi vintage Daniel Ginsburg "Cuvée Prestige Louis XVII" to magnums of the straight 1999. These all Ay Grand Cru masterpieces are show stoppers- as are the rest of the bottles we are pouring. As a special treat, the Hollywood store will be adding the 1995 Charles Heidsieck "Blanc des Millénaires" Brut Champagne and the 2006 Thienot "Cuvée Garance" Brut Blanc de Rouges Champagne to the tasting lineup. Attendance is limited to 24 tasters, and we can't accommodate shared glasses or multiple tastes for this special event. Mari will present the wines in Hollywood.

Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced.
