2009 Domaine de Montbourgeau "Cuvée Spéciale" l'Etoile

SKU #1142640 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The essentially pure-Chardonnay basic Montbourgeau 2009 L’Etoile – recently bottled when I tasted it in November – is very cidery in its expression of tart but faintly oxidized apple. At once polished in feel and reflective of the ripe vintage in its low acidity, but also tingling in its apple skin piquancy and flor-like yeastiness, it finishes with satisfying persistence of nuts and herbs. I would plan to enjoy it over the next 2-3 years. (6/ 2012)
