2012 Bedrock "Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Wine" Contra Costa Red Blend
Here's another of Morgan Peterson's idiosyncratic discoveries. Located in the Sacramento River Delta, it's an old field blend of goblet-trained Zinfandel and various other varieties. Wine Spectator only just reviewed the 2011 "Evangelho" in October, 2013, awarding it 93 points, and noting: "Distinctive, almost quirky, this is wonderful to drink. Floral raspberry and spice box aromas lead to a range of flavors, with tart wild berry, licorice, soy and mineral. The tannins are ripe, but have a light grip on the finish. Zinfandel, Carignane, Mourvèdre and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2022."
