2011 Zind-Humbrecht Hengst Gewürztraminer Vendage Tardive Grand Cru
This is an extremely rare bottling since the Hengst Vineyard, however spectacular, rarely develops botrytis and it develops very late if it does. The results are magnificent, though. The importer describes the nose as expressing: "intense, spicy, leather, minerals, wax/honey, ripe litchi, mangoes..." and the palate as: "unctuous," finishing "with a suprising mineral influence, typical of Hengst." The wine's sweetness is balanced by its strength. Very age-worthy.
