2012 Vina Robles "WHITE 4" Paso Robles White Blend

SKU #1138051 92 points Wine Enthusiast

Editors’ Choice – “Paso Robles is achieving fame for its offbeat white blends, and this wine is a perfect example of why. Made from Viognier, Verdelho, Vermen-tino and Sauvignon Blanc, it’s one of the most beautifully drinkable whites on the market today, at a great price. Brisk acidity, a steely minerality and mouthwatering cit-rus fruit combine with richer, riper notes of nectarine and peach to produce a vibrant wine.” — S.H.

(61% viognier, 33% verdelho, 3% vermentino and 3% sauvignon blanc): Light gold. Aromas of nectarine and orange are complicated by subtle floral and ginger nuances. Fleshy but dry and precise, with good cut to its bitter citrus pith and peach pit flavors. Finishes on a refreshingly bitter note, with good focus and cut. (12/ 2013)

K&L Notes

From Vina Robles; The Power of 4 - this wine is an estate blend combining grapes from our prestigious Huerhuero and Jardine vineyards located in the rolling hills of Paso Robles, where warm afternoons and cool evening breezes guide the grapes to perfect ripeness. The varieties used in this blend are very unique to Paso Robles and California’s Central Coast. Intended as a trial, we discovered that both the Vermentino and Verdelho have responded extremely well to the terroir of our Huerhuero Vineyard. The grapes were pressed at the winery and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. Different yeast strains were used to best express the characteristics of each variety, resulting in a wine with added dimensions. No malolactic fermentation occurred. After fermentation, the wines were blended based on trials and the individual character of the wines. The result is a synergistic blend that is more delicious than the sum of its parts; a compelling

This wine brings me to Hawaii (mentally)!!! Ripe tropical fruits such as banana and pineapple right off the bat, then the honeysuckle, peach pit, peach skin, and some fresh ginger. Super lively and easy to drink and has a long finish. Just take a sip and close your eyes... we are in Hawaii.....

Rich and soft, this white coats the palate without being opulent. Clean and crisp, the Vermentino lends a wonderful green spiciness to the back-end making this an incredibly refreshing and easy drinking white. This is the perfect crowd-pleasing party wine!
