Krug Brut Rosé Champagne (1.5L)

SKU #1137198 96 points Wine & Spirits

Pink gold, this is the most vinous of Krug’s wines, a fresh, vibrant pinot noir elevated to the ethereal precision and focus that Champagne’s soil and climate can give. There’s a coolness to the flavors that leave the impression of forest air, a gentleness that belies the power of the structure and the dark tones it brings. Drinkable in the most fantastic sense of the word. (12/ 2012)

95 points Wine Spectator

Very expressive and beautifully balanced, this is all in the details, from the palate-caressing texture to the vibrant acidity, finely meshed with flavors of black raspberry, plum, wild strawberry, candied citrus peel, honey and ground spice, accented by rich hints of espresso, treacle and pastis. 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Bright orange-pink. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes red berries, Asian spices and flowers, along with toasty lees, anise and vanilla. Deep, sappy and palate-staining, with intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors, velvety texture and a jolt of chalky minerals on the back half. The mineral quality lingers on a long, incisive finish of striking purity. (12/ 2012)

K&L Notes

Krug Rose in magnum is rarer than hens teeth. This blend of great vintages is perhaps the most consistently great pink wine in the world. Effortless, subtle and elegant, this is not a bottle of wine that is ever flashy or showy. Every time I have had it seems to just vanish without refilling the flutes. The refined strawberry notes and haunting Pinot Noir fruit always seem to take a back seat to the company and the conversation when I have drunk it, but the memory of each experience is as vivid as yesterday. Every lover of the good things in life should try this masterpiece at least once. It is the ultimate rosé! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
