2011 Carbonnieux Blanc, Graves
Barrel sample. Very herbaceous in character, this is a wine that is packed with powerful acidity yet remains elegant in style. It has minerality and tight acidity, and should benefit from aging.
A white with a lively, bright character of dried pineapple, lemon and chalk. Full body, intense and powerful. Solid core of fruit. Chewy finish. Just a baby here. So wonderful now but will deliver so much more in the future. Better in 2015.
Very bright and engaging, with a chamomile note leading the way, followed by quinine, lemon zest and white peach flavors that bounce through the lively finish. Drink now through 2015.

Bright straw. Fresh aromas of lime, white peach, minty herbs and white flowers. Shows almost tart flavors of white stone fruits and green apple, with lemon and mineral notes lingering nicely on the saliva-inducing finish. Very strong acidity conveys an almost tart impression, but this multilayered wine has enough stuffing to come around with a little bottle age. Very well done: this is an outstanding, affordable dry white Bordeaux, and firmer and more focused than some past vintages of Carbonnieux. 90(+?) points
