2011 Matanzas Creek Sonoma County Chardonnay
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Chardonnay Sonoma County is another gorgeous wine for the money. Dried pears, lemon oil, flowers, butter, almonds and sweet spices inform this beautifully balanced, harmonious wine. All the elements are in the right place. This hugely delicious, entry-level Chardonnay should drink nicely for at least the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2015.
Massively rich and ripe, a big, glamorous Chard that caters to the contemporary style. It's front-loaded with white sugar, tropical fruit and oak flavors.
Reportedly, a lot of today's malolactic Chardonnay fermentations started long ago at Matanzas Creek Winery, whose cellar was a former dairy facility. The winery is being kept to a high standard of quality by current owners, Jackson Family Wines.
