Valdespino "Deliciosa" Manzanilla en Rama (375ml)

SKU #1133801 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The NV Manzanilla Deliciosa en Rama Saca de Primavera 2013 has to be a new addition to the range, or at least I had never seen it before. It is nothing other than the unfiltered version of the Manzanilla Deliciosa, and is a great example of how much the filtering takes away from these wines. The volume market around the fairs in Andalucia demand clear, almost transparent, light wines. A wine like this En Rama bottling would be rejected there. It has a nice golden color, with herbaceous notes of green apples, yeast and bakery. The palate is sharp, light, with green almond and olive flavors, and a tasty finish. This is much better than the regular Deliciosa. Sold in half bottles and at a price that is a steal. Superb! Drink 2013-2015. (8/ 2013)

K&L Notes

From one of our favorite Sherry producers, Valdespino, this is a once a year saca of Manzanilla en Rama, arguably the most intense, representative and transformative expression of flor aged Sherry around. We cannot wait to get this into your glasses, as well as ours! (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

If you are a sherry fan be sure to grab a bottle immediately of this unfiltered manzanilla from one of the top bodegas in Jerez. Bone dry but with a richer texture and greater complexity than a typical manzanilla. Super fresh and absolutely delicious.
