 One of the very best wines I have tasted from Graham Tatomer, the 2012 Gruner Veltliner Meeresboden, is laced with vibrant, crystalline notes of lemon, jasmine and crushed rocks. The 2012 is all about precision and delineation. This is a terrific showing, not to mention a wine loaded with true character. Drinking window: 2013 - 2017. This is one of the best sets of wines I have tasted from Graham Tatomer. This year the lineup is a little bit broader than usual, which will undoubtedly please fans of this small winery (and that includes me) quite a bit. Pricing remains very fair relative to the quality of what goes into the bottle.  (7/ 2013)

 Pale gold. Expansive aromas of orchard and pit fruit nectar, pungent flowers and honey, with a bright mineral overtone. Fleshy but lively, offering palate-coating poached pear and nectarine flavors and a hint of bitter lemon pith. Closes silky and long, with resonating spiciness excellent persistence.  (12/ 2013)

Giving up perfumed, lively notes of lychee nut, tropical fruits, exotic flowers and citrus, it is a vibrant, delicious white that has rocking acidity and purity. Gruner Veltliner

- Grüner Veltliner is the most widely planted grape variety in Austria, making up about a third of all the vineyard land in the country, according to importer extraordinaire Terry Thiese. The varietal has definitely increased in popularity of the past few years, as sommeliers and wine directors loaded their lists with this spicy white because it pairs well with so many things. Its bouquet has been described as floral, tending to toward musky, with hints of peppery greens, lentils, citrus and red fruit with a distinctive mineral quality. In the mouth the wine can be broad or precise, but is almost always distinguished by bracing acidity and flavors that mirror the nose. A notoriously good ager, you can drink GrüVes in their youth, or let them evolve in complexity in your cellar.
