2001 Château des Tours Vacqueyras (Previously $60)
Deep crimson. Looks and tastes extremely young still. Tight tannins - very chewy even at eight years old. 17/20 points.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The beautiful, elegant, seductive 2001 Vacqueyras is a serious effort. Its medium ruby color is followed by distinctive kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with freshly ground pepper, licorice, and strawberries.
Chateau des Tours is a Côtes du Rhône property managed by Emmanuel Reynaud who also manages Chateau Rayas and Chateau de Fonsalette. The wines are produces from vines on the 40 acre estate from Grenache.
