2005 Thienot "Cuvée Stanislas" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Firm and focused, with a creamy mousse supporting a subtle weave of lemon meringue pie, poached white peach, toasted almond and honey, showing a pronounced vein of smoky minerality that echoes on the finish. Drink now through 2025.
This is a richer style of Blanc de Blancs that has the weight of a high dosage behind it. There's a baked-apple character that's rich and rounded, but laced with minerality as well. It's soft on the palate, but with a reverberating freshness.
The "Cuvée Stanislas" Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Chardonnay from the Cotes de Blancs, all of them grand cru except for a little bit of premier cru from Vertus. This high toned, smoky Champagne has great focus and precision and superior, long, mineral finish. Like all of the Thienot vintage wines, this bottling is entirely estate grown from the families nearly seventy acres of vines. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
