2011 Domaine Anne & Arnaud Goisot Bourgogne Aligoté Vieille Vignes

SKU #1127042

Once again, Anne & Arnaud's Aligoté has been chosen as a winner by the Confrerie des Chevaliers de Tastevin. But to keep the price as low as possible we are using the standard domaine label. The 2011 is precise and fresh in character. It is open and appealing on the palate, with spice and freshness. Its character, while showing the pronounced acidity this varietal is known for, is surprisingly round and charming. This is classic Aligoté, but friendlier than is often the norm, and so delicious with seafood, or just for an aperitif. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 03/2013)

I have been a fan of this wine for many years, and yesterday at the staff tasting the 2011 did not disappoint. Just for fun, I had pulled out the 2006 & 2004 from my cellar, and we compared all three. You might not think of ageing inexpensive white like this, but I can promise you that with the Domaine Anne Arnaud Goisot Bourgogne Aligote Vielle Vignes that they not only keep well but gain quite a bit of complexity with time. For drinking right now, this crisp Aligote is perfect, with a little bit of earth on the nose and a whole lot of refreshing liveliness on the palate! Yum!
Top Value! Drink from 2013 to 2021

Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Chablis

- The region north of the Cote d'Or, famous for its steely dry white wines made from Chardonnay. There are 7 Grands Crus vineyards, and numerous Premier Crus. Unfortunately, the name has been borrowed and badly abused by producers of inferior white wines in the US as well as in Australia. True French Chablis is a delicate, stony, crisp Chardonnay, bearing no resemblance to the anonymous plonk so labeled here.
