Quite a ripe nose of tropical fruits, Mango and Lilikoi with a fresh floral note. The palate is soft and broad with nice concentration and texture. The wine has a stoney, even slight chalky mineral character towards the finish that helps give a little more length and balance to some of the exuberance of the fleshy fruit on the mid palate. Good value!

Oh Pecorino! It's a wonder I haven't tasted this varietal (knowingly) until this year. This wine has an explosive aroma. This wine smells like the trays of cut samples of peaches and nectarines, and at the farmer's market at the beginning of Summer, sprinkled with orange blossoms! This is one of those wines that you will want to nose over and over because it is pure bliss. On the palate it is richer and rounder than I would expect it to be. Greg hits the nail on the head in his description and comparing it to a French Viognier (which I also can't get my nose out of). I would serve this with something as simple and enjoyable as a squash blossom flatbread with fresh local ricotta, and a drizzle of walnut oil.

On the palate the wine has density and richness with deep, saturated flavors and it has an almost oily richness to it but is highlighted by a vibrant central acidity containing glints of mineral that stretch the finish on and on. I sat with a bottle of this contemplating the variety, its density, aromatics, yet striking focus and looked for some comparison to other grape varieties. Unfortunately it is something one has to explain for Italy with so many weird names and unpronounceable words people just generally want me to say it’s “more like a Cabernet, or more like a Sauvignon Blanc” it simplifies the learning curve. So with this grape it finally came to me! This is “like” French Viognier, it has the aromatics, body, density and they usually have an oily richness to them. Most food and wine pairings couple American Viognier with Asian dishes, while they have the aromatics and density they lack the central focus, hence the peanut sauce and curry matchings, sort of a drier less flowery version of the Gewurztraminer/Riesling category. I think the wine has more character and needs, Sea Bass, Lobster or maybe even some Tuna Sashimi.

Pecorino is a delicious white wine from the east coast of Central Italy. It reminds me a lot of Viognier (peach blossom, apricot and yellow plum aromas) but with much more acidity and crispness on the palate. This wine would be perfect to sip well chilled on it's own as the days get progressivly warmer or with some light fare like salads, white fish, or lighter preparations of chicken (or, as would be fitting, some Pecorino cheese!). Lovely little bottle of wine and highly reccomend you check it out. CM
