Ascendant Spirits Breaker Limited Edition Bourbon Whisky 750ml

SKU #1126016 Whisky Advocate

This bourbon is a blend of whiskeys aged a minimum of 5 years, with part of that time spent in California's Central Coastal hills. Breaker leads with a strong oak nose supported by cinnamon and caramel. On the palate, the maritime impact is there: itís softer and less oaky, with a good balance of cinnamon, caramel, and a touch of clove. Breaker is a very restrained and understated bourbon, but thatís also what makes it so damn likable. Sourced whiskey. (Fall 2014) (GK)

K&L Notes

Here is a new small batch bourbon from an up-start distillery in Santa Barbara. Chuck Cowdery is going to love this because it's clearly LDI, but never mentions Indiana. You know what? That's OK by me because I know what it is and now you do too. What we've got here is a minimum 5 year old bourbon selected from eight casks, which have had been transferred from Indiana to Ascendant's warehouse in the Santa Ynez Valley. This is one of the softer style LDIs with some good spice, sweet candied citrus, and very little heat. On the palate it's dry and easy drinking. It's got a subtle floral character that comes through nicely on the palate. A very nice addition to the market to say the least. Double Gold San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.
