2010 Uvaggio "Secco" Lodi Moscato
*#14 on the Top 100 Wines 2012* This dry Moscato Giallo from Lodi is delicious, with an intensely perfumed nose that follows through in the taste, alongside Meyer lemon, jasmine and cantaloupe. Very unusual, incredibly well priced and modest in alcohol, this lush, ginger-tinged Moscato is this taster’s desert-island white.
From a single vineyard in Lodi, grapes for Uvaggio's Moscato "Secco" are harvested at full maturity with modest sugar levels resulting in just 12% alcohol. The wine is made in a dry, aromatic style and was cool fermented in tank without malolactic conversion. Flavors are somehow simultaneously rich and delicate, with a profile of melon, citrus, and tropical fruit.
