K&L Notes

From a family growing grapes in Chablis since the 16th century, now run by Jean-Francois Bordet, who has taken over from his grandfather. He is pushing quality higher and higher, no longer cold-stabilizing the wines. It's clean, bright and very charming, with a spine of minerality. At present it is a touch reserved, but not backwards or closed. The finish is tremendously persistent, and this is a terrific value. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy buyer, 1/2013)

This is Chablis! Bright beautiful acidity, subtle minerality, followed by lime blossoms and green apple peels. Wonderful texture.This has be looking to Spring and all that willpair with it!

Chardonnay

- It's hard to believe that up until about 30 years ago, this extremely popular varietal hid behind the veil of geographical names like Chablis and Puligny-Montrachet. Now grown all over the world and bottled by its varietal name, Chardonnay has achieved a level of branding unlike any other wine. Surprisingly, though, what you get when you buy Chardonnay can differ greatly from country to country and even within one country, depending on the climate where it's grown and how it is vinified and aged. Unfortunately, the name has been borrowed and badly abused by producers of inferior white wines in the US as well as in Australia. True French Chablis is a delicate, stony, crisp Chardonnay, bearing no resemblance to the anonymous plonk so labeled here.
