Ripe, rounded and juicy, with a delicious core of melted licorice, plum sauce and linzer torte notes. A light tarry edge helps drive the finish. Rock-solid. Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Drink now. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (11/ 2011)
Hand-harvested from 40 year old vines, the 2010 Côtes du Rhône from Domaine Roche is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 15% Carignan. Romain Roche, who is not even 30 years old, inherited his 15 hectare domaine in Cairanne from his parents, who had previously sold the grapes from their 40-105 year old vines to negociants. The 2010 vintage marks only the second vintage from this brand new family label. Already overachieving at their price point, we expect to continue to see great things come out of Domaine Roche. 15% abv.
