2009 Tajinaste Blanco Valle de la Orotava (Tenerife) (Previously 20)

SKU #1120334

Tajinaste was one of the first (maybe the first?) of the many Canary Islands wines to be selected, represented and championed by importer José Pastor. From the island of Tenerife, known for its high elevation vineyards and other worldly landscapde, Tajinaste produces a delicious, original listan blanco wine that when young, has a great balance of fruit and very marked, creamy minerality. After 4 years in bottle...well, guess you will soon find out! These always strike me as wines that do have the bones to make for interesting drinking after several years of bottle age. (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

- With more land under vine than any other country in the world, Spain is the great sleeping wine giant. In recent years, a great deal of money and passion has been poured in the burgeoning Spanish wine industry, helping to improve quality among its vast array of wines from sparkling Cava to Sherry to Rioja Gran Reserva. The most important red-wine-producing regions are Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Navarra in the north and Priorat and Penedes in the northeast.
