Simply put, the 2010 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre is pure class. Gorgeous detail and pure nuance are the hallmarks. White peaches, lime, slate and crushed rocks emerge from the glass, but here, too, it is the wine’s textural finesse that impresses above all else. A long, polished finish rounds things out beautifully. The Montee de Tonnerre is utterly impeccable from start to finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. (8/ 2012)
*Outstanding* (from a huge 4.5 ha parcel located in Chapelot). Here the components of the nose are similar to those of the Fourchaume yet here it is notably more floral. There is impressive complexity to the dense, rich and concentrated flavors that offer plenty of oyster shell and iodine hints on the balanced and stunningly persistent bone dry finish. This is really lovely juice and well worth your attention. (8/ 2012)
Pale yellow. Captivating, slightly high-toned nose combines papaya, orange blossom and oyster shell minerality. Sweet, round and smooth, but with enticing orange-y acidity and serious underlying structure giving the mid-palate superb energy. Finishes very long and tactile but youthfully tight. Gicqueau-Michel says he'd give this ten years in the cellar. (6/ 2012)
Very pure nose. Racy and wonderful polished texture. Yet with quite a bit tucked in for the future. (1/ 2012)
