The 2000 Barolo Cannubi is so fresh and primary it would be virtually impossible to peg in a blind tasting as a 2000. Layers of jammy dark fruit flow from this intense, rich Barolo. The house style speaks more loudly than vineyard character in 2000, but the wine makes up for that with its superb length and harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. (6/ 2011)
Fabulously perfumed. Rich and soft, with supervelvety tannins and loads of coffee, berry and plum character. Long, long finish. Scavino has a lovely piece of Cannubi right at the top of the best part. And it makes great wines in hot years. Best after 2010. (7/ 2004)
Medium red. Reduced on the nose. Then supple and inviting on the palate, with a silkier texture and more flesh and sweetness than the normale Notes of tar and nuts. Not nearly as vibrant as the 2001 but finishes with sweet, lush tannins and very good length. (12/ 2004)
