2007 Rudius Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Firm and tightly wound, with excellent structure, depth, focus and concentration, but so compact now that it's unfair to uncork it. The laser beam of herb-laced currant, blackberry, mineral, pepper and black licorice are slow to unfold, but the proof is in the finish, where the flavors are presented on a beam of purity. Best from 2012 through 2022.

Bright red-ruby. Redcurrant, blueberry, tobacco, tar, licorice and menthol on the nose. Sweet and aromatic in the mouth, with good intensity and lift to the flavors of black cherry, currant and mint. Builds nicely on the back end, finishing with substantial but suave tannins and a lightly candied character. Sweeter and deeper than the 2006 version.
