1979 Dallas Dhu 33 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Single Malt Whisky 750ml

SKU #1116244

This whisky is everything you want it to be. It's graceful, delicate, elegant, and it tastes expensive. It's very much the rare and shining jewel that we whisky romantics hope lost distilleries like Dallas Dhu will actually live up to. Aromas of lemon zest, vanilla, oily wood that continue on into the palate of this 33-year-old single malt, and the finish warms up with a burst of richness on the back that stays with you for minutes. A fantastic aged Highland whisky that very much resembles our Banff barrel from a year ago, yet with more weight and texture. Dallas Dhu was closed in 1983 and will never reopen. This is very, very special. (David Driscoll, K&L Spirits Buyer)

This is a treat. The Dallas Dhu 33 year old has the restraint and class of the finest drinks on the planet. Unlike most very old single malt that I have tasted, this is very far from going to wood and has fantastic natural sweetness. I detect no Sherry wood in this, just gorgeous, concentrated Highland majesty. If you are looking for something truly great that does not rely on gimmicks, look no further, this is it.
