Sourced from Tom and Mary Elke's vineyard near Boonville, a 30+ year old vineyard that is sought after for its low yields of perfectly ripe Chardonnay with high natural acidity, Ici/La-Bas' ("here"/"there") makes this Chardonnay in a Brugundian style, with an emphasis on minerality, acidity, and potential for development. Upon release, this wine was rich and round by still showed lots of potential, with bright tropical fruit and peach aromas and flavors, strong tension, and balanced oak. Now, after time in bottle, this reveals some real complexity, as fruit and oak aromas integrate and take on nutty, umami, and exotic secondary characteristics.
