Arbe Garbe winemakers Letizia and Enrico Maria Bertoz make white wines in the style of the great white wines of their native Friul, with a little California flair. Their 2011 white blend, made entirely with fruit from the wonderful Saralee's Vineyard in Windsor, is comprised of 50% Pinot Grigio, 45% Mavasia Bianca and 5% Riesling. Apricot, citrus zest, sea air and honeysuckle shape this lovely small-production white, which is wonderfully food-friendly, with a burst of delightful 2011 acidity and fabulous texture derived from soaking the Pinot Grigio on its skins for a day.
