Intense and ultra-powerful. Full and dense. Chewy tannins. Long finish. Muscular. Best ever from here. $$ (4/ 2011)
Great swathes of sweet tannins and ripe berry fruits, the wine is delicious, ripe, concentrated and intense without losing charm. (6/ 2011)
This is a good effort from this backwater appellation where ripeness is always an issue. Clarke’s 2010 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as notes of red and black currants, earth and spice, medium body, good ripeness, moderate tannin and the potential for 10-12 years of cellaring. (5/ 2011)
Dark red. Medicinal black cherry, menthol and licorice on the nose. Smooth and juicy, with tight, slightly herbal flavors of cassis, licorice and mint. Nicely ripe in spite of its medicinal aspect, and sweet and fine-grained for this wine. Finishes with supple tannins. (7/ 2012)
