A nice surprise. Great density and richness with layers of dark fruit and spice. Thick concentration and a bold, confident presentation. Plush texture, length and density. Age 5-10 more years. (5/ 2012)
Dark fruit, with roses, incense and nutmeg on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety and rich tannins and a long and delicious finish. Coffee bean and cedar undertone. Better than 2006. Drink now or hold. (1/ 2012)
The first scent of this Brunello smells regal; there is a powerful statement of place and for Poggiarellino that is marasca cherry that wild and gamey Italian cherry that sends surreal aromatics. It's haunting, inviting, seductive and incredibly complex. In the background you sense the ripeness of the vintage, not over-ripe but definitely with a hint of chocolate and plum showing its aromatic density. In the mouth the wine is electric. It has a real, vibrant core that drives the wine the length of your palate with a lush, dense coating, yet it never hesitates to be compelling. This is a big wine yet balanced and will age very well. 94+ points (Greg St.Clair, K&L Italian Buyer)
