Fresh and focused, with juicy blueberry and plum fruit on a deftly balanced frame, weaving in mineral and star anise hints on the crisp finish. Drink now through 2017. 590 cases made. (11/ 2012)
Bright medium ruby. Reticent nose hints at black raspberry, dark chocolate, mocha and sexy spices, plus a suggestion of washed cheese rind. Fat, dense, sweet and full, with primary dark fruits dominating a light gamey quality. Not quite as lively as the Lady Rasa--in fact this is a bit aggressive--but the slightly dusty tannins are supported by lush fruit. Vintage 2010 favored syrah and other early ripening varieties, noted David O'Reilly. 91(+?) points (12/ 2012)
From the winery: "The deep plum hue is the first hint of the opulence found in this 2010 Syrah. Chapel Block aficionados will not be disappointed when tasting this magnificent wine. Flavors of cranberry, pomegranate and cherry are enhanced with layers of ash, blueberry and black pepper, which lead to supple tannins and a trace of chocolate, blackberry and coffee. After several highly acclaimed vintages of this limited production Syrah, we are very pleased to release yet another beautiful wine from the Red Willow Vineyard! Enjoy now through 2020+."
