The Buehler Estate is situated in the mountains above Conn Valley and near the base of Howell Mountain, where the various rocky, high-draining soils are ideal for growing Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet in particular) with the structure to produce long-lived wines. Aiming for a more approachable style with their appellation Cabernet, the 2010 Napa bottling consists of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% estate fruit blended with fruit from top growers on the valley floor. Aged for eighteen months in a blend of French and American oak barrels, the integration of the structured mountain fruit with the ripe, fleshy fruit of the valley floor results in a balanced, flavorful Cabernet that shows dark fruit aromas and flavors, subtle creaminess from oak ageing, and fine tannins. Drink now through the next decade. Quoting Robert Parker: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon...is a reasonably good value, which tells you how perverted prices have gotten in Northern California..."
