*Editors' Choice* This flashy, complex Zinfandel wants to be paired with a burger. It's just luscious in blackberry jam and teriyaki beef flavors, with tart acidity that can't wait to bite into greasy protein and fat. (12/ 2012)
Frog's Leap makes their Zinfandel in a more reserved, elegant style with lower alcohol and reserved power. This field blend of old-vine Zinfandel and Petite Sirah are picked as ripe, healthy grapes rather than raisins. The winemaking style harkens back to California's earlier heritage rather than the more modern and jammy style. From the winery: "Our 2010 Zinfandel welcomes you with enticing aromas of cinnamon and clove which underscore layers of brambly fruit and dried cranberries. Luscious flavors of cherry and boysenberry-laced with hints of earth and spice-delight your palate. The resolved tannins and plush texture are balanced by a bright acidity."
