Creamy, with lush cherry pie, dark plum and chocolate mousse flavors. The ripe finish features smoke and spice. (12/ 2010)
Ferreira's ports are some of the most impressive that we have tasted this season. Named by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the top producers of 2012, this historic house, which also produces the world renowned, ageworthy, and pricey "Barca Velha" reds, Ferreira is one of the great ambassadors of Port and Portuguese wines. Named in honor of the family's matriarch, Doña Antonia, this reserve "ruby" styled port shows excellent balance, a truly wonderful interplay between the rich fruit, wood notes, fresh mixed berry fruit, sweetness and even acidity (yes, a Port with fresh acidity!). Hard to beat this port for the money.
Below is a listing of the wine review scores we frequently reference in our notes. While these sources remain an excellent source of information, we always recommend that you trust your own palate. Scores in these publications often represent the personal taste of an individual critic, which may not always coincide with your own.
