Really quite rich on the nose. Then some savour. Racy and dense and really very well done. Long and powerful but no ersatz sweetness. Some real rigour here. Beginning, middle and end to this one. So clean and zesty! With lovely texture and lift. 17.5/20 points. (1/ 2012)
Referts is adjacent to Les Combettes, and shares the same soil type. From the winemaker: "The Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Referts' is rich, less tight than 'les Combetes' with various smells of fruit. This great white wine is destined to honour haute cuisine : shellfish cooked in a court-bouillon, creamed and poached fish, poultry liver pâtés, ripe cheeses like Munster and mature Comté."
