2008 Philippe Bornard Ploussard Côtes du Jura

SKU #1113969

Philippe Bornard inherited his vineyards from his father, who had only sold his grapes to co-ops during his own lifetime. Another winemaker convinced Philippe to make his own wine, and now 27-years later, he is being certified biodynamic. Bornard's Ploussard vines are grown at high altitudes in red loam soil. It realizes a delicate red wine with notes of rhubarb and pomegranate. 12.5% abv.

This is the anti-fruit bomb. Full of mushroom, earth and salt on the nose and palate, complementing delicate cherry and orange fruit. It has a hint of spritz that fades once it's been open a bit, but I actually like that liveliness.
