2010 Montebuena "Cuvée KPF" Rioja

SKU #1113357 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Ripe cherry and blackcurrant on the nose and in the mouth. Pliant and seamless in texture, with good heft and back-end energy. Finishes smooth and sweet, with fine-grained tannins providing shape and grip. Still on the young side but this wine drinks very well with an hour or so of decanting; it's an excellent value for Rioja. (9/ 2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2010 Montebuena is more lifted aromatically but otherwise displays the positive attributes of its older sibling. It, too, will provide pleasure for another 3-4 years. (6/ 2011)

K&L Notes

Very good example of a fresh Rioja, with bright, forward cherry fruits on a medium-bodied frame. Juicy, uncomplicated, and very well made wine for the right price!

This is a wonderfully bright, delicious, cheery Rioja. Pure red cherry fruit flavors and a fresh overall palate impression make this a great light to medium-bodied sipper for any number of occasions, with snacks before dinner, roasted chicken or vegetarian entrees.

Great wine for any occasion. It should satisfy a wide variety of drinkers from those who prefer white wines to those who prefer a hearty red.
