2010 Honig Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
*Top 100 Wines of 2013* Graceful and elegant, featuring lively red and dark berry flavors, with touches of black licorice and mocha-laced espresso, showing focus on the long, tapered finish. Drink now through 2023.
Aromas of blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants follow through to a full body, with silky tannins and an attractive aftertaste of walnuts, berries and lightly toasted oak. Better in 2017.
Honig's 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet is sourced from their sustainably farmed Rutherford estate vineyard well as portions of other local Napa Valley vineyards. A blending of 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Verdot add dimension to the wine, which was aged for 18 months in 1/3 new American oak. From the winery: "An elegant, balanced, Cabernet with flavors of black cherry, plum, and black tea, and hints of nutmeg, allspice, cassis, vanilla, and anise. The broad mid-palate is rich, the finish is long, and the tannins are lush."
