Cuvée Ortus is a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc only made in the finest vintages, and the 2006 vintage was just released. The Reverdy family has been making wine in the region perhaps as far back as the 1600s. After malolactic fermentation, this wine was aged in large oak barrels with lees stirring for a full year. After that, it was racked into a neutral cask for aging and settling for another year. It is then bottled unfiltered and aged for more than another year before distribution. The 2005 vintage garnered 92 points from Wine Spectator, who wrote: "Stylish and alluring, with a kiss of toast adding to the heather honey, Jonagold apple and creamed peach notes, all backed by a long, stylish, straw-filled finish. A lovely barrel-fermented style." (06/2011)
