The Rancho Santa Rosa vineyard was established in the late 1990s. It is a perfectly situated Sta. Rita Hills vineyard featuring southern exposure and limestone soils and is subdivided into 59 blocks which are tended and vinified separately. The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed and fermented in barrel after settling. The wine then spent 18 months in 40% new French oak. From the winery: "This is a bold Chardonnay with emphatic aromas of lemon and green apple followed by a hint of butterscotch. The lively acidity helps accentuate the inherent minerality in all of Foley's white wines. While drinking beautifully now, it should evolve and improve over the next 5-10 years."
