2009 Paul Hobbs "Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard flows with the essence of mint, licorice, black cherries and flowers. It is a deep, muscular wine endowed with terrific richness and depth. Crushed rocks, graphite, minerals, smoke and tar are some of the many nuances that emerge on the dark, voluptuous finish. This seamless, pure wine is simply dazzling. The 2009 is the first Las Piedras from Paul Hobbs. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029.

Inky purple. High-pitched aromas of red- and blackcurrant, Indian spices and potpourri, with hint of vanilla lending depth. Bright and focused on the palate, offering intense dark berry and bitter cherry flavors that expand and gain sweetness with air. Soft tannins come on late and add shape to the very long, spicy, seamless finish.
Built around roasted coffee, crushed rock, dried currant, mocha and cedar, this packs in a lot of flavors. Well-proportioned and tannic to the point of being chewy, with flavors spilling out on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2025. (Web Only- 2012)
