The second release from Kilchoman's 100% Islay series is far less wild than the first. The brighter, more citric smoke is still there, but the herbaciousness and tanginess from the youth has been tamed. The smoke, however is still interlapped with beery, new-make qualities, yet the finish brings hints of butterscotch and vanilla. It's all the fun of young whisky without the crappy ending.
