2011 Cantina Terlan Pinot Bianco
Cantina Terlan produces some of the finest Pinot Blanc in the region, where the stony-sandy soils of its alpine vineyards are well-suited to the varietal. The excellent albeit challenging growing conditions in 2011 resulted in Pinot Blanc with ripe flavors matched by naturally fresh acidity. A cool stainless steel fermentation was followed by six months ageing on the lees to preserve freshness while creating richness on the midpalate. This is an elegant, pure expression of classic northern Italian Pinot Blanc. It exhibits varietal aromas of pear and delicate citrus and earthy floral notes, with a creamy, silken texture on the palate and superb mineral structure. Refreshing and food-friendly, this will pair well with many dishes, including sauteed shrimp, salmon tartare, cold lobster salad, and light pastas.
