2011 Cantina Terlan "Classico" Terlano

SKU #1111128 90 points Antonio Galloni

The 2011 Terlaner Classico is fabulous on its own, but ever more so within the context of the year. Expressive aromatics meld into layers of beautifully delineated fruit in a vibrant, polished white loaded with personality. A traditional blend of 60% Pinot Blanc, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, the Terlaner is drop-dead gorgeous. The Sauvignon adds a bit of acidity and brightness that this vintage needs. A precise, crystalline finish rounds things out beautifully. Once again, the Terlaner Classico is a fabulous introduction to the wines of Terlano, and also a great value.

An excellent offering from one of the Alto Adige's best producers (and, as I mentioned in my newsletter article, being one of the best in a region where there is little if any mediocre wine, they generally start of good and get better from there, is no small feat!)60% Pinot Blanc, 30% Chard and 10% Sauvignon, this wine has a medly of fruit and floral notes, nice palate wieght and lovely snap and minerality. Drinks well above it's price point. Highly recommended. CM

From arguably on of the best producers if not the best in the mountainous region of Northern Italy comes an intruiging and elegant white wine with a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay, and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale light yellow gold color, with aromas of bright stone fruit and intense minerality, great texture, and just absolutley pleasureable on the palate.

Pure mouthwatering goodness! This outstanding co-op blends Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay into a stunningly fresh white that offers tangy citrus and light stone fruit aromas and flavors on a frame of brilliant acidity and focused minerality. So elegantly poised, refreshing and food-friendly, the 2011 is at the top of my under $20 white wine list, and should be on yours, too.
