2009 Lynmar Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Firm, with an earthy edge to the wild berry, sage and underbrush scents, this full-bodied red is very tight and backward, but impressive because of that. Drink now through 2018. 1,136 cases made.

Bright ruby. Spicy strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with lively accents of Asian spices and smoky minerals. Precise, elegant pinot, with bright, floral-tinged red berry flavors, moderate weight and a crisp, focused finish. This graceful pinot noir packs a surprising amount of flavor into a light-bodied package. Very pinot.
Consulting winemaker Paul Hobbs contributed to this 2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, comprised of 50% Quail Hill Vineyard, 19% Jacobs Vineyard, 10% Cal Plans Vineyard, 10% Terra de Promissio Vineyard, 7 % Susanna’s Vineyard, and 4% Jenkins vineyard. The wine spent 10 months in 51% new French oak before being bottled. From the winery: "The 2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir exhibits a vibrant hue of red, soon revealing fruit elements of the same character as opening aromas of bright strawberry, Bing cherry, rose petal and cranberry emerge. The vibrant red fruit tones mingle with appealing spice elements of cumin, sandalwood and allspice. As the wine moves along the palate, supported by juicy acidity, it offers elements of dried herbs, rhubarb and red apple skin. This beautifully complex release finishes with a refreshing mélange of pomegranate and toffee."
