Antaņo is no boutique winery. It is a huge operation, one of the best selling Rioja brands in Spain, but given that Spaniards still (even with per capita wine consumption decreasing and the economy struggling) drink far more Rioja than anywhere else, I would say that this is a good thing; no one knows good, honest, fairly priced Rioja better than they do. So it is no surprised that this top seller in Spain tastes as delicious as it does. Savory dark cherry flavors show real umami character, with hints of soy sauce and decent minerality as well to complement the fruit. This is simply delicious and surprisingly nuanced, elegant wine for the price!
