This very pale rosé has the richness of toast and croissant that comes from complete maturity. It also features fresh hints of the red and white fruits that were present during the wine’s younger years. This is ready to drink now.

Rich and creamy, this is aging gracefully. The finely tuned acidity and lightly beaded texture provide an elegant frame for the layers of coffee liqueur, toasted almond, cherry bon bon, iodine and orange peel flavors. The long finish is tinged subtly with smoky mineral. Disgorged October 2008. Drink now through 2022. (Web Only- 2012)
K&L Notes
From the winery: "Veuve Clicquot Cave Privée... was born in the depths of our chalk cellars, out of intuition, passion, and also tenacity on the part of the oenologists at Veuve Clicquot. For more than 30 years they have persevered, carefully guarding each vintage, driven by a wild dream that one day they would reveal them to connoisseurs throughout the world. 1989 marked the return of the hot, dry vintages, similar to the legendary 1945, 1959 and 1964. The 1989 Rosé Reserve is based on the same blend as the 1989 Vintage Reserve: 67% Pinot noir, from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne, and 33% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. The addition of 12.8% red wine from the Bouzy Pinot noir of the same vintage completed the blend. The colour is a delicate pink. The bead is persistent and fine. The initial nose is very pleasant, in a tertiary register on roasted notes, reminiscent of mocha and cocoa. The full bouquet comes to light on pastries. These notes develop into more complex aromas, with a mineral taste typical of red wines from Champagne. The bouquet is very mild, which is due to the fine maturity of the vintage, and preserves all its finesse. On the palate, there is an explosion of wild fruits (strawberries), emphasising the impression of structure and freshness, whereas the aromas of citrus fruit and candied figs bring out the silky acidity of the wine. The overall impression is one of generosity, with a very mild finish on dried fruits (Pecan nuts)."
