Smoky and herbal notes frame grapefruit and green almond flavors in this broad but lively white. Mineral and ginger linger on the finish. Drink now. (12/ 2012)
This 100% Godello is hand- harvested from 25-30 year old, dry farmed vines in Bierzo D.O., planted in clay and quartz soils at 2000 feet elevation. Bodega del Abad produces wines only from the Mencia and Godello grapes, the native varietals of Bierzo. From the winery: "Abad Dom Bueno Godello is bright and floral with crisp notes of pear and green apple rounding out a mineral core. This wine expresses the essence of the Godello grape in a fresh and direct style, unobscured by barrel age."
