2008 Mas Codina Cava Brut Reserva Penedès

SKU #1110445

Mas Codina is a 40 hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Reserva Cava was hand-harvested from 20 to 30-year-old vines and estate bottled. Vines are planted in calcareous and sandy clay soils which keep the wine minerally and lively. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, and is aged on its lees for a minimum of 24 months before disgorgement. Varietals include 50% Macabeo, 35% Xarel-lo, 10% Chardonnay, and 5% Pinot Noir. 100% hand riddled as well! Since we direct import this delicious Cava, it is arguably one of our best values in bubbly right now. (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

This is my top recommendation for sparkling wine under $15 store-wide. This bottle of bubbles is so clean and refreshing that it is sometimes a little too easy to drink. The bead and texture are what set it apart from most of the other inexpensive sparklers that are available; this wine has very compact streamers that I associate with more expensive wines. Try it out!

Apple, citrus and mineral- a tasty, juicy, well-made Cava for sure! Hand-riddled and in the traditional method for $12.99? Are you kidding? This is an amazing value! Stock up for parties and to have a bottle of bubbly in your fridge at the ready for a special occasion- or a Tuesday night just because! Delish!
Top Value!

Produced from several native, regional grapes and 10% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir on lees for two years, this may be one of the finest “cheap” (only in price), and most serious sparkling wines that we have available in the store. It is definitely one that should have been served at your big New Year’s Eve Party. Bright, distinctive aromas of apples and lime zest with wet river stone undertones are well defined in the nose, while in the mouth, it is refreshing, clean crisp, and mouthwatering, with a lovely viscous, long finish. This is a magnificent Gem that our Spanish Wine Buyer, Joe Manekin, discovered on his most recent wine trip to Spain several months ago, and that The Beaner has told me will be our house sparkler for the month. 12.0% ABV
