This supple red offers an alluring mix of fresh and mature flavors, with notes of black cherry, tobacco, cedar and smoke. Beautifully balanced and elegant, with light, firm tannins and lively acidity. Drink now through 2018. (9/ 2011)
This is perfectly welcoming and complex upfront, with dried raspberry, leather and light herb aromas. It feels stylish and layered, with flavors of berry, earth and integrated oak. Classy and smooth on the finish, drink this now-2020. (12/ 2012)
Conde de Valdemar is one of the larger landholders in Rioja, producing a range of well made, traditional Rioja wines. This is a classically styled gran reserva from the excellent 2004 vintage. Toasty red fruit aromas and flavors are very nicely balanced, typical and show what the Spaniards would call a really delicious "balsamic" or fresh, succulent fruity character. This is beautifully balanced gran reserva to drink now or cellar another 5-7 years.
