Based in Woodinville, Washington, Giant Wine Co. is a collaboration between Chris Gorman (Gorman) and Mark McNeilly (Mark Ryan) aimed at producing delicious blends in the image of their respective cult labels but styled and priced for everyday consumption. Spinning off the name of Gorman's original winery, "413", they produce a family of wines sourced from purchased fruit under "The Ghost of 413" label. The 2009 Columbia Valley Red is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot and Syrah. It is big, brooding, and dark, full of rich blackberry and cassis aromas and flavors with notes of dark chocolate, lavendar, and baking spice. According to Gorman and McNeilly, it's got "plenty of stuffing to scare wines at twice the price." This is freaky good stuff, if you ask us!
